How to Receive Jesus

God says that all are sinners.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

Because we are sinners, there is a price to pay for sin.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:14-15

But, because God loves you, He made a way of escape... He sent His son Jesus Christ to pay the price for sin.

But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

In order to obtain salvation, in other words, make Heaven your home and flee the fires of Hell, all He asks you to do is turn to Him and accept Him as your own personal Lord and Savior.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. John 1:12 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13

Because we are lost without a Savior, we must...
Admit your need for a Savior
Be willing to turn (repent) from your sin
Believe that Jesus Christ is the one True God and He died for you on the cross
Through prayer, ask Jesus Christ to control your life, not just as your Savior, but the Lord of all your life

Here is a sample prayer:
Dear God in Heaven, I know that I am a sinner and need a Savior in order to obtain forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for my sins. I am willing to turn from sin. I now ask Jesus Christ to come into my life to be the Lord of my life. I am willing, by God's grace, to follow and obey Christ as Lord of my life for the remainder of my days. In the name of Jesus.
